An essential witness to Russian history in the 20th century, photography is very present in the different periods of the country's history, and in all modes: documentary photography with photos of the White Army during the different campaigns, representing the soldiers and their leaders, artistic photography, notably with the Russian ballets of the early 20th century (Diaghilev, Nijinsky, Lifar...).
